（彼は亀戸でのプレゼンで重要なわき役を演じた。）

She continued to play a role on stage.
（彼女は舞台での役を演じ続けた。）

You people have only to play a role.
（あなたたちみなさんは役割を果たしさえすればよい。）

【補足】
playという単語は「遊ぶ」や「（スポーツ）をする」
だけではなく演じるという意味もあり、さらに名詞で「劇」と訳すこともあります。
