AをBに使う

【例文】

（昼食にせいぜい6ドルを使うんです。）

She could not afford to spend so much money on books.
（彼は書物にそれほどのお金を使う余裕が無かった。）

【補足】
can not afford to do「〜する（経済的）余裕が無い」も重要構文ですのでこの際しっかりと覚えましょう。
英語は高校生が学校で習うレベルは間違いなく全て覚えていいものです。
先生が苦手、嫌いなど英語学習を妨害する要因はたくさんあると思いますが、はとりあえずわきに置いておいて、教科書に載っているイディオムなどは時間のある1年生、2年生の内に習得しておきましょう。
