【補足】
例文の一つ目のようにこの「２、３の」と言う意味になるa couple ofは日本語訳だと訳さない事があります。必要に応じて訳し分けましょう

【補足】
意味が「２、３」なので後ろに来る名詞はいつも複数形です。
